FEROKE

Feroke is bounded by the Chaliyar River to the north and west, the Vadakumbad River to the south, and Ramanattukara Grama Panchayat to the east.

During Tipu Sultan’s Malabar campaigns, this location was chosen as the site for a fort to oversee his territories between Kozhikode and Palakkad. The town, originally named Farookhabad when declared the capital of Malabar, eventually became known as Feroke.

Feroke gained fame for its tile industry, which grew as a result of the Basale Mission Company, started under the leadership of Basel missionaries in 1911.

With the advent of Feroke Railway Station, the town experienced further growth, establishing prominence in industrial and commercial sectors as well as in education, led notably by Feroke College.
