BEYPORE

A ship is being prepared; the destination is not far…

Beypore, a land of teak trees, has been world-famous for centuries for building Uru—traditional large wooden ships.

It witnessed Tipu Sultan’s military campaigns and was once known as Sultan Pattinam.
At the end of its long journey, the Chaliyar River meets the Arabian Sea here.
Chaliyar, the sea, the Uru, and the trade of the Mappila sailors together shaped the commercial culture of this vibrant community.

The Beypore diaspora in Qatar is organized as the Beypore Pravasi Association Qatar (BIPAC). For over ten years, this organization has been serving the expatriate community, contributing extensively to humanitarian work, cultural programs, and sports.
