On the industrial map of Malabar, Cheruvannoor’s social, political, and cultural history is closely intertwined with local industry and the workers’ community. Cheruvannoor is one of the regions in Kerala where industrial culture first took root.
National movements and social reform initiatives have strongly influenced the cultural development of the village. To combat religious divisions and social evils, the regional office of the Atma Vidya Sangha, established by Vaghbatananda Guru, began functioning in Cheruvannoor in 1922.
In the field of arts, especially theater, the Cheruvannoor-Nallalam region has a proud and distinguished history. Sports clubs here have also been at the forefront of nurturing new athletic talent.
The Cheruvannoor community in Qatar is represented by the CNPAQ (Cheruvannoor Nallalam Pravasi Association Qatar).
