It gathers strength for a long voyage ahead, drawing energy as it flows through the heart of Pothukallu Panchayat, growing stronger and more vibrant along the way.
Pothukallu is Kerala’s first declared sanitation-model panchayat. Formed in the year 2000 after separating from Chungathara Panchayat, Pothukallu has stood out in the fields of education, social development, and culture.
The people here are survivors—those who overcame major disasters with courage, unity, and cooperation. When nature showed its destructive force, when the Chaliyar raged fiercely, they stood shoulder to shoulder, forgetting their own hardships and embracing the disaster-affected with compassion and love.
Among the expatriate communities in Qatar, the Pothukallu Panchayat Pravasi Association holds a place of distinction. This collective plays an active role both in development-oriented initiatives back home and in social and cultural activities in Qatar, making its presence strongly felt in both lands.
At the very beginning of Chaliyar’s journey, Pothukallu stands as a symbol of pride and strength.
